In 1981 the United Kingdom played host to the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana; 750 million people watched it on television and a national holiday was declared. Now, almost 30 years later their son Prince William is set to marry Kate Middleton this April in what is already looking like the next “wedding of the century.” And along with all the usual media coverage, this royal romance is being chronicled in a comic book, written by Bleeding Cool’s own Rich Johnston.
Both bride and groom will be getting their life story told in two separate volumes—William Windsor – A Very Public Prince drawn by Gary Erskine, and Kate Middleton – A Very Private Princess drawn by Mike Collins—which will also be united into the collection Kate & William – A Very Public Love Story in April and published by Markosia Enterprises.
Excited yet? Forbidden Planet in London certainly is, and they’re throwing a huge street party to celebrate. Drop by on April 2 to pick up a copy of the book, as well as meeting Johnston, Erksine, and colorist Owen Jollands. The party is receiving actual mass media coverage, so as Johnston puts it, “…if you want a signed copy of the comic, and in all likelihood find yourself on a TV news story seen all across the world, make sure you turn up in good time.”
